Bodley's Beech bowls
After 180 years this beech became infected with a fungus and had to be carefully taken down using a specialised crane and expert surgery. Proximity to a source of water had allowed it to live longer than most. This collection was made for people who had lived and worked near the tree and had loved it when it was alive. Beech is sometimes a little bland in terms of its grain, but some of these pieces offer a little more interest with spalting and flecking marks resulting from fungus.
